MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
SPECIAL MEETING. * A special meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Boil'd Avas held in" the secretary’s office last evening, presided over by the chairman (Mr. J. Chrystall). Also present were Messrs Bl G. Gower, W. E. Barlber, &. Bryant, D. Pujreell and the secretary (Mr. A. Fraser). A good deal of discussion ensued as the result of a letter received from the Public Works Department in reference to the proposed new stop bank to be erected near the site of the eld Shannon Bridge, and it was decided the Board arrange air interview with Mr. Ronayne (Public Works Engineer) relative to the matter, Messrs Chrystall and Barber to comprise the deputation and that failing satisfaction the Board approach the Minister on the matter.
It Avas reported that owing to the fact that the banks were down along the river bank at the site of the old Shannon Bridge, farmers had had to set to and build temporary banks to save their properties and the Board decided to subsidise this work to the extent of £IOO.
It was decided to approach the owners of property concerned in a proposal to cut a connecting channel between Duck Creek and the Main Drain and to solicit their sanction for tile carrying out of work and the erection of floodgates to take the water off low levels.
