VISIT OF EMDEN.
GOVERNMENT COURTESIES. Wellington, Last Night. According to an announcement by the Prime Minister to-day, a Minister of the Crown will be present in Auckland on June 26 to exchange with the captain of the German warship Emden, on its arrival, courtesy calls on behalf of the Government. ■Sir Joseph Ward pointed out that the captain of Euiden would call on him and his colleagues in Wellington but as the warship’s first port of call will be Auckland, it was desirable that the Government should Ibe directly represented in the initial courtesy call. He had made arrangements also for the extension of invitations to the captain and as many officers as could be spared and cadets to visit Rotorua and for the officers who could not go, to visit Waitomo.
