PRESBYTERIAN LADIES’ AFTERNOON.
A very pleasant function took place yesterday afternoon, when the ladies of the congregation held a successful social and sale afternoon in the supper-room of the Town Hall. Tlie stalls were presided over by thofol towing liadjiefs, with assistants : Cakes: Mesdumes A. Ross, A. F. Stevenson and Thomson; lollies: Aliss B. Speirs, Patterson (2) Stevenson (2); produce: AHs S. Easton, Misses J. Rotes and Speirs; novelty; Alesdaimes Barron and Nieol (Orouu Downs); tea rooms: Mesames J. Ross, McEwen, Satherley, Misses AleEwon and Davey.' The door was in charge of Aliss Littlejohn. Solos were rendered by M«sdainos Doel, Riches and Bullard, and a recitation by Aliss Jean Stevenson, all the items being encored. At (lie close of the-programme the Rev. W. H. Nicholas, ou behalf of I lie congregation, presented Mrs Bullard with an oak bedroom clock as a simall mark of appreciation of i'er services by her Presbyterian friends in Foxton. Airs Bullard replied thanking everyone, and said that anything she had done to help had been a pleasure to her. A dainty afternoon tea was provided,by the ladies in charge of the tea-rooms. The sales at the various stalls was \cry brisk, fall hut a few plants and taney goods 'being disposed of. Apologies for absence were received from his Worship the Mayor and Mr and All's J. K. Horniblow, and others. At the close of the'afternoon the c hairman thanked those who had taken part and made the effort so successful, and especially the friends of other congregations for their attendance and support.
