A lead from the Government is being sought by the Auckland City Council as to the hospitality to be extended to the officers and men of the German cruiser Emden, Which is due at Auckland on June 26th. “In the course of a world cruise, this wall ihe the first visit of a German war vessel to Auckland since the war, and I think: we should have some indication frtom the Government as to the extent to which the City will be called on to entertain the visitors,” the Mayor (Mr. G. Baildon) said. “Accordingly, we have written to the Department of Affairs, which attends to such matters, and when a reply is received, our action .will be determined.”
