A PIONEER PASSES

IN HER NINETY-NINTH YEAR. Hamilton, May 15. The death has occurred of Mrs. George Moon, the oldest resident in Raglan, in her 99th year. ■She was born at Perthshire. Nee Miss Rachel McGregor, she came to Sydney with her family at the ago of five years. Three years later she came to New Zealand, settling in the Northern Wlaivoa district. When she arrived in New Zealand as a. little girl, the only language she could speak was Gaelic. She then learned Maori, ivliieh she could speak fluently. She was a powerful swimmer and saved three, persons from drowning in the Wairon River. She married the late Mr. George Moon, of Raglan, formerly of New Plymouth, and went to Raglan with her husband immediately after and had lived fhpre ever since.
