IN BANKRUPTCY
There were no creditors present at the meeting' convened by the D.O.A. (Mr. C. E. Dempsey) at the courthouse yesterday, in the bankrupt estate of F. T. Shaw. In his sworn statement 'bankrupt stated that lie was teirribly in debt and no prospect of paying and there was no other course open than to file. He had received summonses and a judgment summons. On coming to Foxton, bankrupt was free from debt and bought a house upon which he paid £IOO deposit. The payments had been kept up until last vear when the mortgagee sold it. Owing to the closing of the flaxmills bankrupt had been out of regular employment. Bankrupt’s average earnings were now £3 10/per iweek out of which rent and family .maintenance had to be provided. Bankrupt attributed his present trouble to unemployment and expressed regret at being unable to pay his creditors who had been, in most eases, very considerate. Walls, £18; Foxton Borough Council, £3 8/10; Moore and Bergin, £9; S. IT. Wrigley, £10; (1. Ruffell, £2 10/3; Horowhenua Power Board £2 12/-; Mrs. Parkes, £2 10/-; Mrs. Hoffman, £1 11/-; Mrs. Rusterholtz, Wellington, 12/11; A. FI. Admore, £2 5/-; ift. Sorbic, £6 15/-; AH's. Irvine, Palmerston N., £1 10/-; Geo. F. 'Smith, £3 13s 3d.
