TOWN HALL. Much rain has fallen on “The Somme” since the tanks first ploughed their way through mud and slush in the big attaelk —but, vividly, these incidents- will be recalled when the .film version o£ ilie “big; push” is seen at the Town Hall on Friday. Wonderful photography is an outstanding feature of the production, which has taken many months to complete, and which for the first time gives the public an opportunity of seeing what real war is like. The scenes are reproduced with such fidelity that one can, for the first time, realise just what “zero” meant to the unseasoned troops who waited for the fateful second before going “over the top.” Brilliant deeds of bravery, humour that is typical of the Tommy, impressive spectacle —all ■ ha.ve their place in “The Somme,” a film to be seen and remembered by everyone. Rex, Hal Roach’s famous and mafrvellous wild horse, is starred in “The Devil Horse” at the Town Hall on Saturday. In writing the story Hal Roach based it on actual hislorical legend of the West. It deals with the pioneers and their battles with the marauding redskins of hostile tribes, and with a “devil horse,” credited with supernatural strength, and feared by all the Indians. Four months were spent on location in Montana and Wyoming in the production of “The Devil Horse,” which claims to be spectacular as well as dramatic. Usual prices.
