Mi'. Bob Linklater, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. linklater, has been malkiing steady progress in the art of flying, at the Sockiburii aerodrome, whither he went at .the end of April to undergo a two months’ course. On Thursday last he had his first solo flight, and made a perfect landing. The death.occuiTed at Greymouth last week of Mr. A. McAllister, who was connected with the Poxton railway service some 30 odd years ago. Deceased leaves a widow, four daughters and three sons. The daughters are: Mesdames J. Mansfield (Poxton), J. W. Easton (Levin Road), C. 'Campbell (Ashhurst), and J. Campbell (Wanganui). The sons .are George, Thomas and Archibald, all of Greymouth.
