PLUNKET CARNIVAL.

THE Committees who carried out the carnival to raise funds to provide rooms for the Phurke't Society deserve praise for the success which has attended their efforts. When all expenses are met something in the vicinity of £4OO will be available for the object. A site has been practically assured in a central position free of cost. It only now remains to obtain plans and an estimate of the. cost. A correspondent elsewhere in this issue makes -a suggestion worthy of serious and favourable consideration by both the Plunket- Society and Borough Council to the effect that the building serve the dual purpose of Plunket rooms -and public reading room. Possibly this suggestion could bo considered when plans are being prepared.
