«. SITE YET TO BE CHOSEN. WHAT ABOUT FOXTON? Mr. G. S_ara, New Zealand manager of Messrs Cadbury and Fry (N.Z.), Ltd., has returned to Wellington from a visit to the Old Country. Interviewed by a “Post” reporter Mr. Sara stated that his fh’in is about to establish a factory for the manufacture in this country of its well-known brands of chocolates. A modern factory is to he erected and experts in the making of chocolate will he coming out from Home at an early date. Mr. Sara stated that the site for the factory has not yet been acquired; indeed it has still to he decided in what district the factory shall he built. The important question of transportation facilities by road, rail, and steamer, and a number of other points have to be very carefully considered before the best location for the new plant can be determined. The reason for the new development is the high tariff imposed on imported chocolate by the New Zealand Government. Cadbury’s and Fry's chocolates cost twice as much in the Dominion as they do in England. Now Zealand will lose the revenue from this commodity, but will get the benefit of manufacture here.
