R-aikes, T. A. Grammer, R. Boswell, J. Gioyn, J. F. McKelvie, and the secretary (Mr. R. Rangiheuea). The inspector (Mr. D. R. Barron) was also in attendance. Apologies for absence were received frofin Trustees W. E. Barber and A. Cook. IThe Mjanawatu County Council forwarded list of alterations to rate roll made at last meeting. ceived. The Department of Internal Affairs wrote in reply to the Board’s letter, stating that the request that the protection on hares be removed in the Manawatu district would receive attention at an early date. The Department also pointed out that the protection had not been removed in the Pahiatua district as stated at a previous Board meeting. It was decided on the motion of Trustees Gower and McKelvie that the keeping of Chinchilla and Angora rabbits or rabbits of any breed in confinement be allowed only to members of the Medical Profession for experimental purposes under license and supervision of the Department of Agriculture. INSPECTOR'S REPORT. The inspector (Mr. D. R. Barron) reported as follows: —• During the past month I have been engaged in general inspection work, more especially in the northern area of the Board’s district. The month has been 1 an ideal one for rabbit destruction work and on the areas inspected this is being satisfactorily carried out. The .most important item of interest for the last month has been the pollard poisoning carried out by the Board on several islands in the Rangitikei river-ibed in the northern part of the area, and also the poisoning carried out by the settlers themselves on the properties adjoining the islands poisoned by the Board. I am pleased to be able to report that the .result of the Board’s poisoning has been very satisfactory, and on one island especially the “take” was one of the best I have seen for years. On most of the properties poisoned adjoining the Board’s work, .good results have obtained, and in my last inspection the area in question had a much improved appearance. I hope to have a strychnined carrot poisoning carried out in these areas a.t the beginning of June and if this should prove satisfactory, it should go a long way towards cleaning up what has been for some time the most badly infested part of the Board’s area. I shall be engaged in general inspection work during the coming month. .'The report was adopted. Accounts amounting to £47 4/1 were passed for payment.
