CARNIVAL NOTES
The Country Committee are holding a grand con'eert and dance in the Oroua DoKvns Hall this evening, for which an interesting programme has been arranged. The Sports’ 'Committees’ grand final plain and fancy dress masquerade ball will be held fin the Town Hall this evening, for which extensive arrangements have been made, including the engagement of Larkins’ orchestra de luxe, and the provision -of a first-class supper. Onlookers will ibe admitted to the diAss circle for one shilling.
To-morro'w the Citizens Committee will hold a shop day in Main Street. 'To-morrow afternoon the (Country Committee will hold a party in the Masonic Hall. This fixture was to have been held at Mr. Christie’s residence, hut has been transferred as above owing to the unfavourable weather. On Thursday evening-, 2nd May, the combined committees will hold a gr'and final social iand dance in the Town Hall, to wind up the carnival progra'mmes. The prices of admission will be gents 2/6, ladies 1/-, children 6d. A light supper will he provided. On Wednesday, May Bth, at 2 p.m., a function will be held in the Town Hall, at which presentations will be ntade to the baby candidates. The proceedings will commence with a profession from the post office. The price of admission to the hall will be 6d only.
