WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD ELECTION.

MR. FITZHERBERT’S CANDID ATURE. Mr. W. L. Fitzherbert, the wellknown Palmerston N. solicitor, is a candidate to represent this district on the Wtellington Harbour Board at the forthcoming election to be held on Wednesday next, May Ist. Mr. Fitzheibert has been a continuous resident of Palmerston North for the past 22 years and is a member of the legal firm of Messrs Hankins, Fitzherbert and Abraham. It is interesting to note that Mr. Fitzherbert comes of a family which has rendered yoeiraan public service to this Dominion since its pioneering days. He is the eldest son of the late Mr. H. S. Fitzherbert, ex-M.P. and S.M. and a grandson of the late Sir William Fitzherbert who, during the period 1850-91 was Speaker of both Houses of Parliament. Mi-. Fitzheibert’s candidature is the same call to service which characterised his forbears. For the past six years he has been a member of the Palmerston N. Borough Council and a recognition of his administrative capabilities was exemplified by the. fact that he has headed the ‘ poll at the last two borough elections. For a similar period he has been a member and treasurer of the Palmerston North-Kairanga River Board; a member of the Palmerston NorthFire Board for six. years and in educational matters, a governor of the Palmerston N or fh High School. In all branches of healthy sport he has been a prominent supporter and is president of the Manawatu Golf Club; President of the Manawatu Royal Life-Saving Club, vice-presi-dent of the Linton Rifle Club, Manawatu Cricket Association, Tennis Club, Athletic Club and Manawatu Radio Club. Mr. Fitzherbert is well qualified to represent this district on the Wellington Harbour Board and bis candidature will no doubt receive the favourable consideration of electors in this district.
