AERODROME AT SEASIDE.
Mr. HornJblow referred to the Minister’s interest in aerial defence matters and stated that the old river he'd at the local seaside,
with little expense, could be converted into an excellent landing and taking-off ground. Several airmen had in idled there and had spoken highly of the locality- for the purpose. He asked the Minister to inspect the locality. Mr. Wilford said lie would be pleased to make the inspection and referred interestingly to the vital importance of aerial defence. He also touched upon the advantages and safety of air transport and spoke of his personal experiences in this connection. He nlso referred to what was being done at Hawera and New Plymouth and to the recent pageant in Auckland. The Minister, aecomipanied by the Mayor and Mr. Hornblow then motored to the seaside where lie inspected the area and made certain inquiries re prevailing weather, etc. He said he was agreeably 'surprised at the natural facilities afforded and which he said, would justify him in sending experts to inspect and report.
