LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
MANAWATU COUNTY. Nominations for representation on the Manawatu County Council, Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, Palmerston North Hospital Board, Foxton Hai'bour Board, and Horowhenua Power Board closed at noon yesterday. There were only seven candidates for representation on the Manawatu County Council, so, that no poll is necessary. Following are the nominations:— Manawatu County Council. —W. E. Barber, J. A. Kirk, T. W. Reid, W. E. Pearce, H. H. Hunt, J. F. McKelvie, and J. Boyce. Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power Board (two representatives)/ —H. H. Hunt, J. A. Kirk. Palmerston North Hospital Board (two representatives). —J. K. Hornblow and J. Boyce. Horowhenua Power Board. —W. E. Barber. m Foxton Harbour Board.—W. E. Barber. HOROWHENUA. With regard to the local body nominations in the Horowhenua County, an extraordinary position has arisen in the Tokomaru Riding of the Horowhenua County Council, namely, only one nomination has been received, whereas there are two seats to be filled. Move nominations will have to be called, to he dealt with subsequently. Following are the nominations: — Horowhenua County Council: Te Horo Riding: G. A. Monk, C. P. Jensen (returned unopposed). Otaki Riding: F. J. Ryder, H. G. Bryant (returned unopposed). Whirokino Riding (three vacancies) : G. P. Catley, A. J. Gimblett, W. E. Kilsby, A .M. Colquhoun. Tokomaru Riding (two vacancies): J. R. Whyte. Palmerston N. Hospital Board: F. J. Ryder, S. A. Broadbelt, G. P. Catley (returned unopposed). Horowhenua Power Board: G. A. Monk, A. Seifert, T. G. Vincent (returned unopposed).-
