TOWIN HALL. He couldn’t stand the sight of blood and he was always afraid of hurting someone, but how he could wield a nightsiclk in a pinch. Shakespeare, the literary detective 'in “The Drag-Net,” the Paramount picture coming to "the Town Hall on Wednesday night, was a square peg i.u a round hole, but lie was a handy man to have around when the going got rough. There is considerable rough going in this thrilling melodrama of the law’s finish fight with a gang of murderers and hi-jack-crs. George Bancroft, the “Bull Weed” of “Underworld,” takes the part of a rough and ready detective lieutenant in this picture. He gets orders to- clean out the gangsters operating in his district and orders mean action to Bancroft. Without a thought of his own safety Bancroft walks into the social headquarters of the gangsters and breaks in on the underworld chieftain at dinner with his dazzlingly beautiful girl friend. With the detective lieutenant in Shakespeare, the detective who has had to go Lis rounds alone because all of the other men on the force thought he was yellow. Shakespeare proves that lie is far from yellow, however, in a thrilling hand to hand combat against superior numbers. Usual prices. Owen N'ares and Estelle Brody, popular English stars are featured in “This Marriage Business,” the leading picture in Friday’s programme at the Town Hall.
