VALEDICTORY.
A pleasant time Avas spent on Friday afternoon when the friends of Airs. Barr met to farewell her before her departure from Foxton. The guest of honour Avas presented with a beautiful bouquet, the Avork of Ali'ss J. Ross. Mrs. Barr has been a member of the. Plunket Society, the Croquet Club, the Horticultural Society, the Dorcas committee and one of the prime movers of the Girl Guides’ 'Association. Her fellow church members joined with the various committees in showing appreciation of Airs. Barr’s services. On behalf of those present Mrs. F. Robinson asked Airs. Barr to accept as a token of their esteem a memento of the occasion—a teawaggon and cups and saucers. Airs. Robinson expressed regret at Airs. Barr leaving Foxton, as she had been a very useful member avlio would be greatly missed in all local activities. Airs. Barr, in a neat little speech, thanked all for their great kindness and good Avishes. Afternoon tea Avas partaken of and an interesting competition Avas won by Mrs. Sid. Easton. Musical itdms Avere appreciated from All's. Mason, Airs. L. Bullard, Aliss Stanley (Wellington) and an elocutionary item by Aliss Jean Stevenson, after 'which “Auld Lang Syne” Avas sung. ■
