CONCERT.

Aconcert organised by the Citizens’ Plunket 'Committee was held in the Town Hall on Thursday evening. Owing to counter attractions and to the number of attractions held almost nightly in connection with the carnival, the attendance was not large. Those taking part were: Mrs Barber, who Kvas in excellent voice, and her vocal numbers were much appreciated; Mr C. Cronquest, in his inimitable manner, contributed some humorous items, and his female impersonations and make-up were excellent; Mr L. Mainer’s monologues created much ajimisement; Mr Couch was in good voice, and of his vocal numbers “Those Endearing young Charms” was of outstanding merit; Mrs Cronquest received an ovation for her vocal numbers; the dancing of Misses Mary Martin arid Annesley gave an exhibition of graceful movement; Ma* Billman displayed versatility both as a vocalist and elocutionist, and his items were much appreciated; Mr and Mrs Cronquest scored a success in their “barnyard” duet; Miss Gower made her debut as a vocalist, and acquitted herself very well, and she should Ibe an acquisition at future concerts; Mr Corn contributed a violin solo, and also played an obligato to Mrs S. Barber. Mr IJakaraia’s vocal numbers were encored. The accompanists were Mrs Jones (Shannon), Misses Delany, Skellcn and Walsh, ilr Stan Barber officiated as stage manager.
