FOOTBALL.

Two practice games were played on Easton Park last Saturday in aid of the Plimket Sports Queen candidate. In the firsh game, the local Juniors met and defeated a mixed tealm of Seniors and Juniors from the! United (Oroua Downs) Club.

The visitors held the advantage in the first spell, Moffat (2) and Rivers scoring, one. of which was converted. As the result of consistent following nip, Thompson, scored for the locals, Huff adding the extra points. Immediately the second spell opened the Foxton forwards took control of the hall, and by means of short dribbling, good packing and continual following up, predominated the play. Huff and R. Iletta scored tries in this spell, both of which were converted by the latter. United failed to add to their tally and a close game ended: Foxton 15, United 11. Mr L. Sim (Oroua Downs) gave entire satisfactoin with the whistle.

In the Senior game, neither side was at 'full strength, film shortages being made up by Foxton Juniors. Foxton had much the better of the first flip backs indulging in several effective passing rushes. The second spell was more evenly contested, Shannon managing to keep the score down, and to put on three points as the result of a .forward rash. The game ended in Foxton’si favour by 11 to 3. The Foxton backs all showed good form, Ilirini and Taylor putting in some line dashing runs. Westwood suffered a slight knee injury and wisely retired. Moses did not show to su'ch advantage in the backs as he did in the pack the previous Saturday. McGregor and Renata played well in the forwards and Hindu was always at work. 11. Walls and Dalzell were the pick of the Shannon team. Mr Nevile, in his usub 1 enpabe manner controlled the galme.
