HOROWHENUA DISTRICT ** COUNCIL. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Horowhenua Rugby District Council was held at Levin on Tuesday evening, when there was a full attendance of delegates —n'amely: Messrs W. Hannan (President), T. O’Rouflke, J. W. Procter, A. Richards, G. Mitchell, F. Robinson, W. Heyes, J. McGill, W. McLean, F. C. Meyers, J. W. Rimmer, M. Wliniata, S. Hooper, W. G. Phillips and J. Casev (secretary). A letter was received from the 'Shannon Borough Council granting the iCbuneil the use of the Domain at Shannon for the 1929 season at a rental of £lO. —Decided to endeavour to obtain the ground for £B, the sum paid last year. The offer of the Levin Borough Council of the use of the Domain for the 1929 season for £2O Was accepted. The Dannevirke Sub-union intimated that the Oarnaiby Shield, won by the .Wanderers Thirds in the seven-a-side tournament held at that place last se’aison was being engraved and would be forwarded to the Council on completion.
The Manawhenua Union advised the committee that By-law No. 4 of the Club Contest Regulations had been altered to read as follows: “A senior player is anyone who has played more than twice in senior contests.” The appointment of referees for 1929 was left with the Horowhenua Rugby Referees’ Association. It was decided to hold over the question of the number of rounds of matches until after the first playing Saturday. Senior and Junior fixtures were drawn for the opening day, Saturday, April 20th (see page 4) and it was left to the secretary to draw the remaining fixtures.
It was decided that there be a northern and southern division in the Junior grade. Resolved to open the Third grade competition on .April 27th and the Fourth grade on May 4th. The drawing of fixtures for the Thrids and Fourths was left to the secretary. The committee decided to strictly enforce the following rule this season :—“ln the event of a team failing to appear at the correct starting .time, the referee is instructed to award the match to the team on the held. In the event of both teams failing, both to lose points.” Permission was granted for ther following friendly games:—Shannon v. Foxton, at Foxton; Shannon Juniors v. Athletic, at .Shannon; Wanderers v. Hutt, at Hut't.
