THE HIMATANGI HIGHWAY.
Despite the recent inclement weather which has held up'work on the Himatangi Jiiglifway to a certain extent, -good progress is being maintained land the gang has now reached the icommeucement of what was formerly known as iCameron’s plantation. The wet weather, combined with the use of the roller has bedded the foundation down and a reasonably good surface now obtains right up to where the gang is operating. Heavily laden, lorries howeyer, Lften experience considerable difficulty ini negotiating tho chain or so of road under operation and last night one such vehicle dug itself into the filling near the culvert in front of the Chinese gardens. Shovels had to be requisitioned and a track prepared beifore the lorry with its heavy load was extricated,
