CARNIVAL NOTES.
To-morrow a novelty afternoon and evening will be held at Oroua Downs by the Country Candidates’ committee, When a number of attractions will be offered. A recitation, competition for school children will be held in the evening, the function concluding with a dance. A -euchre party iwili be held at Haimer’s lounge this evening. Six prizes and good supper. The Citizens’ committee announce a Children’s Joy Night, plain and fancy dress, to be .held in the Royal Theatre on Thursday, 28th inst. The Sports Queen committee are holding an alfresco entertainment at Mr. J. K. Hornblow’s residence on Wednesday next, which shows promise of being a gay and attractive affair. Full particulars are to be given in a later issue. The Citizen’s committee are holding a shop day on Saturday. Cakes, produlee, competitions of all descriptions.
