Speaking at the Sandon Sports Club’s gathering on Saturday last, Mi’. F. A.. Mason, headmaster of the Poxton District High School, paid a glowing tribute to the officials of the Club for the excellent manner in which the whole meeting was organised and said that such was the efficiency of the organisation for the running of the schools’ events that he and his staff had incorporated many points learned at Sandon in the organisation for the training of the school teams and in the getting off of events at the annual school picnics and elsewhere. Mr. Mason also referred to the great honour his school had in having as one of its secondary pupils, the lady champion sprinter of the Wellington Province —Miss Margaret Barron, who, he said, had virtually been “discovered” at fch« Sandon Sports meeting in 1927, when she so easily defeated her opponents in the schools’ events for the McKelvie Shield.
