NOXIOUS WEEDS IN MANAWATU.

COMPLAINT FROM FARMER’S * UNION. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council a letter was received from the Mana'watu Provincial Executive of. the Farmers’ Union directing attention to the increasing spread of noxious weeds in the county and requesting co-opera-tion, in an endeavour to further minimise the trouble. One prolific source of infection was the metal taken from the various river beds and dumped on the road side. The metal being full of seeds of noxious weeds, which germinate and flower and are scattered broadcast over the land. It was decided to inform the Farmers’ Union that the council was doing everything possible to abate the nuisance. ~
