S.M. COURT.

MONTHLY SITTING

The monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was - held in the Courthouse this morning before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M. ADULTERATED MILK. Mgs. Jakobsen (Mr. Bergin) was charged with selling adulterated milk to the Health Offijccr on February 12th. Mr. Bergin said defendant had a couple of cows and was not in a big way, merely supplying two customers. When approached by the officer accused did not endeavour to hide the fact that she sold milk and was quite anxious to sell a sample. Accused had had a license for over 20 years, and during that time Bad frequently had the milk tested when it was always quite all right. Mr. J. Huggins, Health Officer, said Mrs. Jakobsen had forced the sale despite the fact that she knew witness was the Health Officer. Had she denied that she was selling milk no test could have been ’made. She was perfectly straightforward over the matter. The Department did not press for a heavy penalty in this case. A fine of £2 with cost £1 Os fid was imposed. BREACH OF PROHIBITION ORDER. . Charles Edward Boyle was charged with a breach of prohibition order. Constable Owen in evidence stated that on the evening of March ,Ist Boyle, who had obtained liquor, created a nuisance at the Family Hotel and was convicted of the offence the following day. Accused was convicted and fined £1 with costs 10/-. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff in -the following civil undefended C&S6S I Miss Prendergast v. G. P. Walker .£4, costs £1 bs fid; S. Mattar v. R. Andrew £2 Is Od, costs £1 6s fid; Fox-ton Borough Council v. C. Robinson £2 5s sd, costs £1 3s 6d; A. E. Tongs v. F. McKenzie £6 18s 4d, costs £1 10s fid; same v. J. Westwood £7 8s 9d, costs £1 10s 6d; same v. W. J. Wlallbutton £3 14s 6d, costs £1 3s fid; same v. G. Rankin £5 4s 4d, ebsts £1 10s fid; W. D. Barikham v. G. Rankin £4, costs £1 3s fid. JUDGMENT .SUMMONSES. Orders for possession and judgment were entered for the rent in the following cases: — G. B. Cull v. G. Roberts £33 12s Od, costs £2 16s Od and W. Preston v. W. C. Wallbutton £l2 7s 6d, costs £2 9s Od.
