A large number of Foxton swimming “fans” accompanied local competitors to Palmerston North last -evening to watch them compete in the Palmerston North Swimming Club’s carnival, which was held in the Municipal baths. The local swimmers competed with the following success: — Boys 33 l-3yds. handicap: —G. Hirini (scr.) was placed 3rd in his heat. Men’s 33 l-3yds. handicap:— First heat: R. Ball (4sec.) 1. Time 23 2-ssec. Third heat: G. Shaw (5 sec.) 3. Fifth heat: T. Fuller (4 sec.) 2. Sixth heat: E. Ball (ssee.) 1. Time 23sec. First semi-final: R. Ball 1. Time 20 3-sseC. Second sdmi-final: E. Ball 3. Final: E. Ball 3. Men’s 66 2-3yds. handicap: — First heat: G. Hirini (7sec.) 3. Second heat: R. Ball (9sec.)l. JFime 49sec. Fourth heat: G. Shaw 10 sec.) 1. Time 52 l-ssec. Final: E. Ball 1. Won by a touch. Time 45 l-ssec. 220yds. open handicap':—W. Harrison (7sec.) 3. 100yds. open handicap:—G. Hirini (lOsee.) 2. Cameron (Wellington) who won the .event covered the distance in 60sec. dead, or 8 1-5 sec. under the New Zealand fresh water record. Plying Squadron: Foxton 2.
