CAR OVERTURNS IN SWAMP.

—♦ CHILD NEARLY DROWNED. Te Kuiti, Last Night. As a ear driven by Frederick Bernard Buikhardt, of Thames, was passing another between Hangatiki and Te Kuiti this morning,, it went over a bank and capsized in a swamp. The car contained Burkhardt, his wife and Mrs. G. Henwood and Burkhardt’s child. The two women and the driver were extricated, but the child was nearly ‘drowned. He was taken to the hospital and is progressing. All the occupants were severely shaken. The party was on a holiday trip to Taranaki.
