WASHINGTON MUST BE DRY

WARNING TO WETS. Washington, sth March. It is announced that the first step in Mr. Hoover’s attempt to render the nation “dry” would be an effort to make Washington “dry” by means of forcing a respect for the law among official circles by the great social power of White House. It is generally understood that Cabinet members and their assistants will ,be asked not to serve liquor in their homes nor drink in homes where it is served. It is believed that such a request would make it embarrassing for hosts to serve liquor in the capital, and a probable result would be a great lessening of drinking in official cir--cles. The same requests is expected to be made to Federal Judges and Federal district attorneys, thus extending the new system beyond the capital.
