WORLD'S 100yds. RECORD. EQUALLED BY MISSES BARRON AND MARTIN. The official record for the women’s 100yds. New Zealand championship is 11 3-ssecs. established by Miss Mantann at Wellington in 1927. At Christchurch on Saturday evening it was stated Miss Martin had done the distance in 11 2-ssecs., thus breakinv the N.Z. record and thus breaking the N.Z. record and equalling the, world’s record for the distance. At Palmerston North on Saturday Miss Margaret Barron in the challenge race with Miss Stewart, of Wairoa, ran the distance in 11 4-ssecs., and in the invitation scratch race she covered the distance in 11 2-ssecs., thus equalling Miss Martin’s Christchurch time. Miss Barron had the slight advantage of a side wind but her effort though not as yet officially recognised, equalled the best recorded time for the distance.
