UNLAWFUL USE OF CAR
IMPUDENT ACT. Danuevirke, February 19. Desiring a car to bring some luggage into the town, Arthur Alfred Gurney,-a stranger to the district, went to a local garage to hire or borrow a car. There was no one in attendance, and he took without authority a car valued at £675. 'He got the luggage, and when stopping in the vicinity of the garage was arrested. He subsequently faced a charge of converting the car to his own use. The Magistrate, Mr. Miller, characterised the accused’s act as being particularly impudent, and in view of his previous convictions sentenced hm to one month’s imprisonment.
