MARRIED WOMEN TEACHERS
BOARD REQUESTS DISCRETIONARY POWER. At yesterday’s meetiiig of the Wanganui Education Board when (he report upon staffing and the number of qualified unemployed teachers was submitted, Mr. Hornblow' moved “that this Board apply to the Department for discretionary power re the e'niploylment of married women teachers.” He said that the Minister for Education had inform ed the Auckland Board that he was sympathetic to a similar request and something should be done to replace married women teachers whose husbands were in employment so that vacancies could be Aided by the unemployed. The motion was carried.
