IN BANKRUPTCY.
A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Ernest Alexander Newson, labourer, was held in the courthouse this morning, presided over by Mr. C. E. Dempsey, D.O.A. The following creditors were also present; Messrs M. E. Perreau, D. Christie (C. M. Ross Co., Ltd), and H. E. Gaibett. .
In a sworn statement to the D.O.A. bankrupt said he was a married man with a wife dependant upon him. Wlhen .working lie received 12/- per day and his rent was 10/- per .week. He had been unemployed for about eight months last year. To Mr. Christie: Had done odd work when not permanently employed, and his sons had assisted him in hpusehold expenses. His wife had been an inmate at the hospital for six weeks. To Mr. Perreau; Could not say how long accounts have been accumulating and could not make any offer. On the motion of Mr. PerreaUj seconded by Mr. Gaibett, the sympathy of the meeting was extended to 'the bankrupt and the D.O.A. was asked to facilitate his discharge. I .' •'
