HARRISON WilNiS 220 CHAAI--1 pioNsinp. In the Municipal Baths, Palmerston North, last evening, \V. Harrison, of Foxton, was successful in annexing the 220 yards championship. Miss M. ‘Gay (Foxton), also acquitted herself creditably in her first attempt by winning the ladles dash. Other local swimmers were unsuccessful. The results of the events in which local swimmers competed were as follows: Men’s 220 Yards Manawatu Centre free style Championship: W. Harrison (Foxton) 1, 1. Palmer (P.N.) 2, N. Seifert (P.N.) 3. Time 2min. 51 3-ssees. Palmer and Harrison drew ahead after the first two lengths but Harrison lasted the distance better, to win by six yards, with Seifert half a length back. Men’s 66 2-3 yards Handicap:— Third heat: E. Hyde (P.N.), 6secs., 1; G. Hirini (Foxton), ser., 2; R. Mills (Pah.), lOsecs., 3. Time, 58 4-ssecs. Hirini was not placed in the final. Aten’s 100 yards Handicap: S. Gainey (Pali.), 4secs., 1; E. Fletcher (P.N.), ser., 2; W. Hirini (Foxton), scr., 3. Time, Imm. 17secs. Won by a touch with third man two yards back. Giris’ 33 1-3 yards (under 16 years): Al'iss M. Gay (Foxton), 2 secs., 1; Aliss N. Milverton (P.N.), scr., 2; Aiiss G. Simmonds (Ap.), 1 sec., 3. Time, 23secs. Flying Squadron for teams of four, each man to swim 66 2-3 yards: Tai'hape, 20sees. (F. Kaye, li. Burt, W. Pitt, A. Millar) 1; Y.M.C.A. “B,” 35secs., 2; Foxton (W. Harrison, W. and G. Hirini and R. Ball) ser., 3. Won easily by eight yards.
