CARTERTON SENSATION.
SON CHARGED WfITH STABBING FATHER. Masterton, February 8. Following an incident at Carterton last night, Owen Llewellyn Udy, aged 18 years, residing in Hilton Road, Carterton, appeared in anSAver to' a serious charge in the Magistrate’s Court this morning; that of doing bodily harm to Albert, cling him in the stomach with a diny him in the stomach Avith a knife. Accused was remanded to appear at Masterton on February 16. He -was released on bail on one surety of £2OO and self £2OO. The incident leading up to the charge occurred at the injured man’s residence about seven o'clock last night, Udy being admitted to the Masterton Hospital shortly after suffering from a serious wound in the stomach. The hospital authorities stated this afternoon that his condition Avas critical. When the accused came before the Court this 1 morning, proceedings were adjourned until noon, and were resumed at the Masterton Hospital, where the depositions of the injured man were taken. When examined, he stated that he had visited Carterton yesterday afternoon and had returned home about 5 (p.m. He had’heard no words between his Avife and his son, he said, and Avhen questioned as to his injury he stated that it had been caused by an accident, he having slipped on the back doorstep and fallen on a knife. He also stated that he Avas quite good friends Avith his son OAven, who Avas a well-behaved boy. He had not seen OAven Avith a knife; and lie had had no Avords Avith him about that time. He had not struck Owen. He denied having had liquor that afternoon.
