HANNAN TRANSFERS TITLE TO MASON. Whangarei, Last Night. A notable ceremony • took place at the Wjhangarei town hall on Saturday night when, in the presence of a packed concourse, James Patrick Hannan, the champion New Zealand sculler, handed over the title to James Maspn, of Whangarei, whom Hannan had defeated for the second time on Saturday afternoon in a championship contest. Hannan says that he considers Mason the onlv man in Now Zealand entitled to hold the premier position.
