FOXTON VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.

The local Brigade is endeavouring to send a team away, to the Fire Brigades’ demonstration to be held in Hokitika this month. The men have been practising assiduously for some time now and the team selected for the trip is making good times . over the various “runs.” The greatest difficulty the has to face is that of raising funds to send the team away. ,Being a volunteer brigade it has to rely practically solely on its own efforts and the generosity of the public to provide the necessary amount, which is no small sum. The brigade had been working hard to collect a sum to cover the expenses of the men .while away by means-of dances and shop days etc., and another shop day is to he held on Saturday. That Foxton will benefit by the attendance at the demonstration of local representatives is beyond question as the experience gained by the men will be handed on to the brigade and do much to further increase its efficiency. The men would greatly appreciate any financial assistance and in this connection has to acknowledge the following donations: — Mr. S, H. .Poole 10/- Mr. J. Newth 7/6-
