FIRST DAY AT PAHIATUA,
The first day of the Pahiatua Racing Club’s meeting opened in excellent weather on Tuesday. The fields were large and the attendance good. The totalisator handled £14,430, as against £9691 for the first day last year. Results: — Maiden Race. — Tourist and Monetize dead heat first, Waterspear 3. Time 1.20. Ba 11 ance Iliglnveight;' Ha ndie ap. — The Swell 1, Queen’s Choice 2, Rowley 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.31. Hamua Hack Handicap.—Billion 1, Rakauponga 2, Pale Star 3. Noses separated the first four. Time 1.57 3-5. Pahiatua Cup.—Toxeuma 1, Anolo 2, Imperial Spark 3. Won by a clear length. Time 2.12 1-5. Konini Hack Handicap.—'Royal Lineage 1, Mot'hplane 2, Volplane 3. Won iby two lengths. Time 1.29 2-5. Makuri Hack, Handicap.—Holus Bolus 1, A'tholspear 2, 'Shortly 3. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time 1.19. President’s Handicap.—Dobbin 1, Lipsol 2, Kil,mezzo 3. Won by a length. Time 1.18 3-5. Eke'ta'huna Hack Handicap. — Merry Mixture 1, Aurora Borealis 2, Volplane 3. Won by a neck. Time 1.30. . SECOND DAY. Fine weather favoured the closing day. The totalisator put through £14,702, against £8230 for the second day last year, and the total for the meeting was £29,132, against £17,920 last year, an increase of £11,211, almost a record percentage increase for a country club racing on its home course.
