THREE PERSONS GONVICTED

Christchurch, Jauary 29. As a sequel to a raid by city detectives last Aveek, six persons appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, on charges of breaches of the Gaming Act. William Frederick Kiddey, for using a hotel bottle store as a common gaming house, ivas fined £20,; in default six weeks’ imprisonment; Eunice Brown, a barinaid, for entering into bets, ivas fined £lO, in default one month’s imprisonment; Frederick Alfred Fox, for using the bar of the White Hart Hotel as a common gaming house, Avas fined £2O, in default six weeks’ imprisonment. Other cases are proceeding.
