MAILS TO MOUTOA.

RE-ARRANGEMENT SUGGESTED BY SHANNON.

At its meeting last week the Shannon Borough /Council discussed the matter of mails to and from Moutoa and it was decided to request a re-arrangement of the present system. €r. Hyde said that now the bridge over the Manawatu river was open, the attention of the Post-master-General should be drawn to the delay in getting mails to and from Moutoa and Shannon. Under present arrangements, a letter to Moutoa is sent to, Levin, then on to Foxton and from there to Moutoa, taking two days to reach its destination. He understood that the present mail -contract had nearly two years to run, but now the bridge was open a new arrangement should be made. Cr. Curran, Jun., said they should receive some consideration and on bis motion it was decided to write to the Postmaster-General, asking that those mails 'be re-arranged.
