ELECTION PETITION SUCCEEDS

MR. RU-SHWORTH UNSEATED. . Kaikohe, January 28. The hearing of the petition lodged in the name of John William McCaulay on behalf of ,Mr. Allen Bell’s committee, setting out 20 grounds on which it was claimed the Bay of Islands election should be declared void, opened at Kaikohe this morning before their Honours Mi'. Justice Herdman and Mr. Justice Ostler. Mr. Logan and Mr. McVeagh represented those who filed the petition. In their judgment their Honours said there was sufficient evidence to show that Mr. Rushworth was not duly elected.
