ENTERTAINMENTS.

TOWN HALL.

Albert Ray, Fox Films director, has added another notable production to his credit, with “A Thief in the Daik,” at the Town Hall tonight. The picture is of the spooks and house-of-mystery school, with hilarious situations, and exposes at least one method of conducting a fake spiritualistic seance. The story depicts attempts of a “mob” of circus side-show grafters to steal a fortune fin jewels from an eccentric old recluse and his pretty grand-daughter. This fakes place in the house of mystery, the recluse's old Southern mansion, at midnight during a heavy electrical storm. A seance in spiritualism serves to introduce 'sliding panels, “ghosts,” secret passageways and, finally, the climax of the picture. Spine-chilling effects and the super novelties of the production will not, of course, be revealed here, out of defence to the surprise effect of the photoplay. Also “Dumb Daddies’’ (Comedy), News and Scenic. Usual prices. Monday’s feature is “The Desert Woman,” an exciting drama of life at a desept army outpost. Irene Rich is the featured player. Usual prices.

ROYAL. “Good Morning Judge,” the funniest picture Reginald Denny ever made, has been booked by the Royal theatre and will open here to-night. Denny has long been the screen’s comedian par excellence, but in this Universal picture lie reaches the pinnacle of his mirth-provoking qualities. Imagine Denny as a wealthy young man who confesses to the most dastardly crimes so that he may remain in a charity mission for homeless crooks and he near the girl lie loves. And all the time, the girl is trying to reform him. The star breezes through the role in his usual high-winning manner. Audiences have laughed aplenty at him in former pictures, but “Good Morning Judge,” will arouse a regular cyclone of ribtickling’" hilarity. With “George meets George” (Comedy), and News. Prices 1/- and 2/-. Children half price.
