CORRESPONDENCE.

Sir, —As a visitor to the races this week and one who Ims been obliged to meet the demands of extended credit during the recent depression which we have passed through, I was not a little chagrined to notice certain people busy “lucking winners” and putting their bit on the “tote” instead of paying something off long-standing accounts. It is not very satisfactory to tradespeople to find that certain people can find money for such purposes and yet plead poverty and hard times when hit up to pay something off their bills. I think the sooner businesses are run on strictly cash lines the better it .will be for all concerned. Yours etc., TRADESMAN.
