POWER BOARD OPERATIONS.

At the monthly meeting of the

Horowhenua Power Board on Tuesday, the following report, covering the period since the previous meeting, was submitted by the Engineer (.Mr. J. A. Smith): — Twenty-one new service lines have been run and extra phases run on live existing -service lines. Thir-ty-three poles have been carted out, fitted and erected and 2‘JS chains of wire run. Small extensions to l.t. lines have been made at Tasman Beach, ,Moana Road, Paraparaumu, and Ocean Road, Paraparaumu Beach. Extra phases and heavier cables have been run on Ocean Road, Paraparaumu Beach, and l.t. extended on existing poles on Paraparaumu Beach Road to supply the Hutt County Council’s water pump. Extra phases have been run at Otaki North, to supply three -ranges. A -short extension and extra phases were run at Foxton Beach. Extra transformers were installed at Rauimati and Paraparaumu Beaches to cope with the extra load during the holidays. The usual maintenance, attention to sub-sta-tion and street lamp renewals have been carried out.

installations.—During the period 10 applications from now consumers and 11 applications for extensions to existing installations have been received, comprising one range, three milking motors, two pumping motors and eight lighting installations. Twenty-seven new 'consumers and 20 extensions have been connected, including .13 ranges, six water-heaters, one milking motor, and seven industrial motors, making a total increase for the period of 121.052 k.w. Four single-phase and three polyphase listers have been repaired and retested and two ranges tested and delivered to consumers.

The report was adopted, and authority was given for the Waimea Road extension, provided that a revenue of £32 10s .is assured.
