HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the folloAving cable from the High Oomrdlssioner, London, dated the 12th inst. : Hemp.—Manila prices higher on continued demand, and “J” grade sold for January-Marek shipment at £4l, Stocks in Manila on 31st December 140,000 bales; in Great Britain 16,397 bales. Sisal market firm Avith good trade demand. At tl*; close there Avero buyers of ,No. 1 for January-March shipment n't £43, but no sellers. Good marks sold up to £43 10/during this Avoek. Closing A r alue No. 2 £4O 10/- to £4l 5/-. Mexican values for January-March shipment are: Special Brush £39; Good White £36. It is reported that prices arc likely to advance soon. New Zealand. —Market firm but quiet. Available supplies limited and prospects are good. Closing values for January-March shipment are: —High points £36 10/-; fair, £34; common, £3l 10/-; Tow No. 2, £23 10/-; No. 3, £l9.
