FOXTON RACING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING OPENS TOMORROW. The annual meeting of the local club opens to-morrow and everything points -to a successful gath - ering. The .track and appointments are all that can be desired to ensure success. Indications point to big attendances on both days. Working on the line of “horses for courses,” a glance back at last year’s results at Foxton show that the following horses engaged this year did Well twelve months ago:— Kilmiss, Lin Arlington, Maui, Epistle, ITelotis, AVhite Ringlet, and Vigilance. The recent form of the majority of .these has also been encouraging, so that it is possible that they may deserve some consideration for this week’s meeting.
The Trial Platers will be of all ages, and there are some two-vcffr-olds on gaged. Three-year-olds and upwards have to carry 8.5, and the two-year-olds 7.7; Off the juvenile brigade the Acre-Absurdity filly Acrality showed very fair form at Marton when ‘ she finished second to Lucky Bag, /who Avon again on the second day. The older brigade do not appear very strong, unless Tenacre, who-is being AVtorked AA T ith Silvennine at Hawera, is improved. So far he has shoAvn no form in public. He is a three-year-old by A/ere from Lubrilinc. Wgrzone, who is trained on the Foxton course, showed a bit of speed at, Feilding. She is .a j three-year-old by Bisogne from Woletta. Discourse (trained locally), it is interesting to note the last Foxton meeting she Avas saddled up three times ’and won each time. Incidentally, Avhen she scored in the Novice Stakes it \\ r as her first success. Discourse ran a fair race in the Manawatu Cup, finishing alongside Historic, so that Avith 7 stone tomorrow' she should be hard to beat. Discourse should be Avell suited on her home track.
The Te Rapa trainer, T. E. Wilson arrived here on Friday Avith Bright Day. The Day CometLady Gwendoline chestnut is engaged here and is also entered in tAvo highweigh't races at Wellington. Although the chestnut is looking better now than at any stage of the season, it is reported feat be does not appear to be putting thd dash into his efforts that marked his form a couple of seasons back. It will suiprise the watchers of work at Te Rapa if Bright Day earns a winning bracket.
