Mr. W. Petrie, chief hemp grader, is paying an official visit to Foxton. Miss Mclntosh, a former resident of Foxton, and now of Hawera was a visitor to Foxton last week. Mr. and Mrs. G. Fraser of Foxton, are at present residing at the local beach. Mr. and Mrs. Laley, of Palmerston North, are on holiday at the local seaside. Mr. L. Couch, who has been on annual leave, returned to Foxton this morning. A veteran of the Crimean war, Mr. Cornelius Deverall, died at Auckland yesterday, aged 95 years E: stated a Press wire. Mr. A. N. Smith, of Dunedin, is' (bn a visit to his brother, Mr. G. F. Smith, and is looking up old Foxton friends. Mr. A. G. Warburton, of Te Awaniutu accompanied by his wife and little son were visitors to Foxton last week. Miss H. Holst, of the Alasterton Hospital nursing staff, is at present on holiday in Foxton as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Hornblow. AH. and All’s. D. Christie, of Palmerston North, were the guests of Air. and All’s. D. Christie, of Avenue Road during the week-end. Air. John Chrystall, who conduc ted the evening service at the local Presbyterian Church on Sunday, also contributed a sacred solo, with fine expression, during the offertory. AH. and Mrs. A. Fraser of Foxton, accompanied by their daughters, Alisses O. and N. Fraser have returned to Foxton from a holiday visit to the North Auckland dis-. triet. Waters, Town Clerk of L Eltham and late of Foxton, has sent in his resignation, having accepted a position in Wellington as Office Afanager for the British Dominion Films, Ltd., an Australian Company formed for the purpose of (distributing 'British Productions in Australia, and which has recently commenced business in the Dominion. Mr. Waters has been Town . Clerk of Eltham since May, 1920.- / The death occurred on Thursday A evening at the Alasterton Hospital ol Air. Joseph Philip Prentice, one of the few remaining early settlers of Alasterton. Deceased was born in Wellington in 1857, going to ►- Alasterton when a lad and remaining there ever since, with the ex-' : ception of the last two years, when lie resided in various parts of the \\ airarapa and Forty Afile Bush districts. He always took an active interest in the public life of the district, and was a mem'bcr of the Masterton Borough Council for six years, during which time he represented the council on the Fire Board.
