In the second round of the ladies’ championship singles match at the Manawatu tennis tourney, played at Palmerston North yesterday, Miss Mayer defeated Miss P. McMurray G —o, 6 —l. In the championship mixed doubles C. Procter and Miss Whyte defeated Charters and Miss Stevens, 7—5, 6—2. In the ladies’ handicap singles, Miss M. Rutherford (ree. 12) defeated Miss J. McMurray (ree. 18), 50—15.
C. Procter defeated Boddy 7 —5, 2 —G, 6 —4, in the men’s singles for the Manawatu 'Championship, thus winning his second singles game. In the same event McMurray defeated McDonald 6—o, 6 —o.
