PERSONAL.

Miss K. Desmond, of Wellington, is at present visiting her brother, Mr. F. Desmtond, of Foxton.

Messrs R. L. Heath and D. Brooks are at .present on holiday in the Auckland province. Mss M. Barron, the local runner, will be a competitor at the Palmerston North sports .meeting tomorrow evening.

Mrs. Raibbage, of Auckland, accompanied by her daughter, is at present visiting her daughter, Mrs. 0. Doe], of Gladstone Street.

The death is announced from New York of George (“Tex”) Rickard, the boxing prompter following an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. J. Linklafer- and family are at present spending a holiday at the local seaside. Mr. J. Linklater, M.P., spent the week-end at the Heads.

Mr. IC. N. Tucker, from the Wellington branch of the Bank of New Zealand is relieving Mr. .E. T. Jackson, who is away on holiday leave.

Air. J. Kirkland, of Christchurch, paid a visit to Air. and Airs. W. Kirkland over the holidays. Jim’s Foxton friends will be pleased to learn that he is still .doing well on the athletic field and that he suehessfully competed in several .sports gathering during the vacations.

Rev. Father MteDernfott left Foxton last Thursday for Wellington en route to Ireland, where he will visit his parents. Father McDermott will be absent nine months and during that time Father Brenan, of the West Coast, will carry out the parish duties. Father McDermott sailed from Wellington to-day by the Rotorua. At the conclusion of his last Mass in Shannon last week, [Father McDermott' was presented with a cheque by Mr. Thurston on behalf of liis .parishioners in that town and the best wishes of the parish were conveyed to him for his holiday.
