MISSING BATH.
TAKEN FROM EMPTY HOUSE. Whether from some overpowering desire for cleanliness or merely from a base pecuniary motive it is impossible to say, but some person unknown who entered a vacant house in Stewart Street, Mount Eden, recently, left with ,a porcelain bath, which was practically the only thing i : t was possible for them to remove (says the Auckland Herald). The house h'ad been vacated some time previously by its owner, Mrs. F. M. Moiony, and it was not until the place was visited by her brother, Mr. S. G. Dorrington, of Mount Eden Road, that the presumed theft -Was discovered. The police were informed, but gre confronted by many difficulties in their .search for the culprits. 'ln the first place nobody appears to have witnessed their entry to the house, which was effected by breaking a window and undoing the fastener. - The bath had obviously been taken out by the back door, which was found to be unlocked. It is evidently the intention to do things property and water for the bath, as the fitthrfroff & greater were also taken. v
