COMMUNITY FARMING.
■ 4 A SUCCESSFUL BEGINNING. . The establishment of a form of community farming by Mr. J. .J. Patterson on a recently-purchased block of 1800 acres at Te Puringa has greatly advanced the dairying progress of that district (says a Te Arolia message). A cheese factory opened on October 10, and already supplied by 18 herds of cows, will probably require enlargement early next year to cope with the increasing output of the herds. A great deal of building is ■in progress on Mr. Patterson’s holding, which will be subdivided into handily-sized one-man farnis, and worked under his control. Pastures everywhere bear a rich appearance, and feed was never more abundant. The settlers are of the progressive type, and have a ?community of interest with Te Ar<j>ha. They aim to make Te Puringa] one of the, most .important dairying districts/ in t'he neighbourhood. v j
